Longview + Kelso
Eat • Shop • Stay • Art • Music • Theater • Attractions
The sister cities Longview and Kelso, and nearby Kalama, Woodland and Castle Rock each have their own distinct personalities – Kalama’s antiquing, Woodland’s tulips, Castle Rock’s kitch – but together they make up the gateway to Mount St. Helens and showcase some of the most unique historical perspectives on the North Bank. Longview is a youngster as far as cities go, dating back only to the early 1920s, but it was a planned city – down to the sidewalks and street names – before construction ever began. That careful attention to detail is still evident in its infrastructure – including its crown jewel, Lake Sacajawea – and recently began participation in the American Institute of Architects Sustainable Design Assessment Team program to plan for success for the next century.
